The excitement was palpable as the Year 6 students embarked on an unforgettable residential trip to Borderlands, Kithulgala. With 74 enthusiastic children and 12 dedicated staff members split across two trips—one from January 29th to 31st and the other from February 5th to 7th, this adventure promised to be a perfect blend of learning, teamwork, and outdoor fun.
From the moment they arrived, the breathtaking scenery of Kithulgala captivated them. Nestled amidst lush greenery and the rushing Kelani River, it was the ideal setting for our students to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new challenges.
Thrills, Skills, and Teamwork
The itinerary was packed with exhilarating activities designed to build resilience, cooperation, and confidence. Canyoning and a hike to Beli Lena Cave were undoubtedly the biggest highlights. Equipped with helmets and safety gear, the young adventurers navigated through rocky paths, waded through streams, and climbed to the historic cave, experiencing the thrill of exploration firsthand.

Facing Fears and Building Friendships
The trip was not just about outdoor activities; it was about personal growth. Many students conquered their fears, whether it was jumping into the river for the first time, climbing a steep rock face, or spending a night away from home. The sense of accomplishment and pride on their faces was truly heartwarming.
Evenings were filled with laughter, storytelling, and team-building games, fostering friendships that will last a lifetime. Sitting around a campfire under the starlit sky, students shared their experiences and reflected on the challenges they had overcome during the day.

Memories That Will Last a Lifetime
As they packed their bags and said their goodbyes to Kithulgala, there was a shared feeling of achievement and joy. This trip was more than just an adventure—it was a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and camaraderie.
A huge thank you to the staff at Borderlands for ensuring the safety of all participants and making this trip such a memorable experience. To our Year 6 students, we are incredibly proud of you for embracing every challenge with enthusiasm and courage. The lessons learned and the memories made in Kithulgala will stay with you for years to come.
